The title alone does sound a little bit like a heresy (false teaching) but it is the truth. Over the last 10 years SEO has been a big factor when it comes to website rankings within the search engines.
We are coming to the end of 2011 and people are still talking about how important SEO is in order for your website to rank highly in search engine.
The problem is that the Internet has changed dramatically over the last 10 years or even the last two years and there is still talk on the Internet about SEO and how without it you cannot rank in the search engines.
These people have failed to keep up with the pace of the Internet because SEO is not a major factor when it comes to your site being ranked. The truth is that probably only makes up for about 20% of the overall rankings.
Only 20% I hear you say! Yes because the other 80% is taken up with other ranking variables like:-
- Bounce rate
- User experience
- Social networking
- Social interaction
- Back links
- Quality content
and this is just to name a few.
I can guarantee that there are a few on that list I just mentioned that you didn’t even know about.
SEO Is Slow And Boring Process
All Webmasters can tell you that SEO is slow and boring and you may not even see any results within a month. Now to add to all this is what I call “Google hoops“this is basically doing all the things that Google wants you to do some you can rank for your targeted search terms.
Now there is one question you have to ask yourself and that is “if you are not seeing quick results or traffic from all your SEO work then why bother”
Why do I say this? Well it’s pretty simple. There are so many other websites out there where you can get tons of traffic from, sites like Digg, Facebook, Reddit and twitter just a name a few off the top of my head.
There are people out there making tens of thousands of dollars per month by just using Facebook alone and sometimes with not even having a website. How many people do you know of that have made tens of thousands of dollars from organic traffic alone? Properly zero!
So What Am I saying
I’m trying to get across to you that you don’t need SEO or search engines to be able to have a successful blog or website. The reason why I say this is because the Internet has evolved and grown so Google no longer has the monopoly on traffic.
What does this mean for the future?
SEO Gooroo’s will still create and sell SEO related products because a majority of Webmasters and new Internet marketers are two years behind the curve. For example there are still websites that sell link wheel and auto-blog creation services. We know that with the advent of Panda these methods are no longer viable.
So from now and for the foreseeable future you will no longer have to rely on the search engines to bring traffic to your website because you can get your own traffic from a plethora of other sources. As sites like Facebook etc get bigger and bigger search engines will no longer be the big players within the Internet world.
